COUNCILMEMBER CINDY MISCIKOWSKI HIGHLIGHTS IMPRESSIVE LINEUP OF SPEAKERS AT SMCCA ANNUAL MEETING ON MAY 4. As you can see from the flyer on the reverse side, an information-packed meeting is planned. Cindy will report her take of the Mayor’s budget proposal that will be released in a few days and its possible impact on local services. She and Officer Ragsdale will relay what commitments the Police Department is making to enhance patrol car coverage of the area. In addition Mark Gold, the director of Heal the Bay, will tell us how the “dry weather” storm water diversion project is impacting beach water quality and what improvements are needed. We expect he also will comment on a creative proposal to the City by our board member, Alejandro Ortiz, AIA to pipe storm water away from the surf zone. Several exhibits are planned for your viewing before and after the meeting. These include a detailed summary of responses to the canyon development questionnaire from our last newsletter and handout material regarding undergrounding utility lines, which received a high level of initial support. We will have a signup for persons interested in learning more of the undergrounding process and potential costs. In addition, a separate community discussion of issues raised by the development questionnaire will be held as part of the regular board meeting on June 1 at the Park.
