PARK VNOC POSTS ALTERNATIVES

Numerous Alternatives were considered by the Advisory Committee

1/13/03 Proposed Prop. K improvements to Rustic Canyon Park by VNOC Committee
1. Rehab irrigation (must protect trees from harmful too frequent and direct watering, as specified by independent arborist Dr. Alden Kelley).
2. Historically repair, restore and landscape exterior South East corner
patio at entrance to park.
3. Resurface the outdoor basketball court.
4. A smaller stairs at the Northeast corner of the park to Latimer. (the design and scale of this stair must be in keeping with the current historical and “rustic” nature of the park).
5. Remove and replace Timbers supporting East side of West service road and repair asphalt berm at the above location.
6. Install lighting on outdoor basketball court.
7. Any new landscaping should be done with Calif. native and drought-tolerant plants appropriate to Rustic. Park.
8. ADA curb cut at pool.
9. Move sprinkler controller as per Plan Page L-24 and landscape to obscure from sight.
10. Small wooden stairs from the parking area to the picnic area. (the design and scale of this stair must be in keeping with the current historical and “rustic” nature of the park. It must avoid all trees).
11. As an alternative to the stairs in #10 above; a fence along the South slope to the top on the West service road to keep children from going down the hill.
12. Heat the pool with solar heating. Item deleted
13. Replace Ext. doors with French doors of the same historic style that were original to the clubhouse. (if security is an issue, only replace the doors that open onto the courtyard).
14. Provide tennis court barrier fence, (per plan). Install practice backboard.
15. Paint bathrooms and put in new toilets.
16. Fill in holes, low spots and reseed baseball field.
17. New fence along Latimer.
18. Smooth out bump at top of ramp that goes to play area. Will be done as maintenance
19. Remove acoustic tiles from ceilings in Clubhouse.
20. Add a bench next to the basketball court for spectators.
21. Replace trees by picnic area where cut down (this may already be planed for by Rec. & Parks). Tree replanting is being planned outside of Prop. K.
22. More picnic tables (different style?).Item deleted
23. Remove stump in front of park building and replace with tree.(this
should be done along with item #2). Will be done as maintenance
24. Boulders on front lawn between gates to keep cars off lawn after hours. Will be done as maintenance
25. Replant the planters by pool and the planting areas adjacent to the park building.
