Deer Creek now has tornado sirens!!!
A big thanks goes out to the City of Edmond Emergency Manager Mike Magee for their donation, Oklahoma County Emergency Manager David Barnes for his hard work and our awesome Deer Creek Fire Department for making this possible! To the residents that wrote letters and made calls, your efforts paid off!
The sirens are greatly appreciated and our community is now safer thanks to all involved!
The 2 siren locations are at:
Coffee Creek and Pennsylvania
Coffee Creek and MacArthur
They will be completely powered up and ready to go no later than the end of August. Testing will be done every Saturday at 12noon, unless the weather is bad.
Rose Union and the Middle School have tornado shelters if you need a place to go for safety. Grove Elementary will also have a shelter once completed.
Edmond would like to donate 2 other sirens to the community but it will cost approximately $10,000 each to refurbish and install them. Deer Creek does not have the funds for that. Most property tax money is allocated for fire services only. If you would like to donate towards this need, know of a corporate sponsor or have a creative idea to make this possible for the community of Deer Creek, please contact the Deer Creek Fire Department to let them know at 216-0665.
