Selecting Internet Access and Filtering Options at the Library
Fort Vancouver Regional Library District provides options for individuals and families who wish to restrict what they view on the internet.
Signing up for Internet access privileges at the library includes selection of either:
1. Internet access with no filtering, or
2. Filtered Internet Access.
Individuals of any age may sign up for Internet access and make the choice of filtering option for themselves. They also may change their filtering option at any time.
Parents and guardians have the additional right to select or change access and filtering options for their minor children at any time, or to select a third option:
3. No Internet access.
Parents may also opt to have their child’s Internet access options protected by a password. Without the password, the child cannot change the parent’s selection.
Parents may implement access and filtering choices for their children by bringing the child’s library card to any Fort Vancouver Regional Library District branch and asking staff for assistance.
“The best filter is, and always will be, a parent’s thoughtful involvement with her or his own child.”
