This is a follow-up to the announcement at January?’s SLCG meeting about the violations at 2243-47 Lowell Boulevard, a nearly completed tri-plex sometimes referred to as the ?“Flintstone Castle?” because of the use of stone on the front and it?’s size in comparison to the surrounding houses. A hearing was held on January 30, 2007 to address four violations: 1) not built according to approved plans (the hill was not suppose to have been removed), 2) creating an open space deficit of 145 ft., 3) up to 25 ft 8 inches into the 31 ft setback, and 4) an excavation of the front yard and retaining walls exceeding the permitted 4 ft height. There were 13 letters submitted by area residents, including one from Councilman Rick Garcia, asking that the owner/builder, Nick Mystom, be denied variances for these violations. One board member confronted the owner about a prior offense in which he had been cited for not building to plan. The Board agreed with the residents and ordered the owner to come into compliance with the Code by April 30, 2007.
