Strategic Transportation Plan Town Meeting Scheduled

City looking for more public involvement in planning process

The City and County of Denver will hold its fourth Town Meeting for the Strategic Transportation Plan (STP) on Tuesday, May 9, in the 4th Floor Conference Room of the Webb Municipal Building (201 West Colfax Avenue), from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This will be the fourth in a series of Town Meetings designed to provide education on transportation strategies and build support among stakeholders.

There will be a short presentation summarizing the initial findings for the next five areas of study (travel sheds) evaluated in the process:

• Hampden
• Speer
• Leetsdale
• East Colfax
• Brighton Blvd.
• DIA

Work stations will also be available to allow the community to identify current transportation concerns in the remaining areas to be studied. These areas include southwest Denver, northeast Denver, and much of central Denver east of downtown. This input will be incorporated in the final round of travel shed analysis and the development of the citywide Strategic Transportation Plan.

The Advisory Committee for the STP is scheduled to meet on April 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, on the 4th floor of the Webb Municipal Building. This committee, appointed by the Mayor, will consider the next steps in developing the STP. The plan will determine the types of transportation improvements Denver needs to plan for bikes, pedestrians, transit, and vehicular traffic. The public is welcome to observe the Advisory Committee meeting. Public comment will be taken at the end of the meeting, time permitting.
