The Sorensen Neighborhood Association consists of an active group of dedicated volunteers from the neighborhood. A task force of four people started working together in January, 1998 to organize an official neighborhood association. Sorensen was officially organized ten months later when by-laws were adopted and officers elected.
A few of our biggest accomplishments are the Sorensen signs seen throughout the neighborhood, a summer or fall social event, the annual garage sale, landscaping at Webster Park, and the twice-yearly Sorensen Sideline newsletter. As an organized neighborhood, we receive an annual grant from the City which gives us the financial resources to sponsor various events.
Volunteers are always welcome.
While the Association has many active and much appreciated volunteers, we welcome new people coming forward with new ideas and a willingness to help. Volunteers are especially needed for planning social events. The committee for these events chooses a theme and makes the arrangements for food, games, door prizes, and the like. It?’s a great opportunity to get involved, meet some of your Sorensen neighbors, eat cookies, and have fun planning a social event. And it?’s not too time-consuming?—just a handful of hours.
Is it time for you to volunteer?
