President's Message

May 24, 1999

This is it! The Intermodal Transportation Plan (ITP) will go before the Planning Commission and City Council in June. The most important meeting at which we need to demonstrate a very strong show of support for the ITP?’s recommendation to remove Vindicator and S. Rockrimmon from the truck route is the City Council meeting, to be held Tuesday, June 22 at the City Administration Building at 30 S. Nevada. The City Council begins their meetings at 8:00am. However, the ITP may not be the first item on the agenda. Although you can call the City Clerk?’s Office 385-5901 to get an idea of when the ITP will be presented, it is only a guesstimate. Some items may run longer and others may be continued to another time. I know this is an inconvenient time for most of you (the issue to have night meetings has been raised to City Council many times), but if there is a way for you to come and lend support, bring friends and neighbors, it would be greatly appreciated. You only need to raise your hand when the Council asks, ?“Who here supports this measure??”
The Planning Commission meeting is Thursday, June 3 at the same location and time. Call 385-5150 to get an idea of the agenda, but again, don?’t count on it being very accurate. Mountain Shadows has held their cards close to their chest, but we know they do not want Centennial to return to being a truck route. This is the most significant action affecting our neighborhood since the institution of community-wide trash pickup. Any questions? Feel free to call me or my husband George, who will be presenting our case at the meetings, at 535-2673.
