Southwest Community Association

SWCA Thanks

Sep 11, 2003

We thank the Ellises (Esther, Floyd, & Yvonne) for renewing their memberships. They?’ve been members for years and are very interested in promoting the health of our community. We also thank the Quarterhorse Liquor Store, 5550 Old Pearsall Rd, for renewing its business membership?—and we welcome new business member, Bar-B-Q Patio, 8791 Old Pearsall Rd (by Rachel?’s Country Corner). We hope you?’ll support our business members with your business when possible.
We thank the following SWCA members for hosting National Nite Out (NNO) block parties: Armando & Sandra Gamboa, John Castro, Eufemia Mann, Elisa Boyle, & Carole Abitz. Most of the block parties were visited by either Police personnel, Fire personnel, Code Compliance, and/or reps of Councilman Perez and County Judge Wolff. SWCA helped by providing nametags, sodas, and information. About 75 neighbors took part in the event?—and all thought it was worthwhile; something they?’ll probably do again next year. PS?—next year, NNO will be Tue, Aug 3.
We thank John Adams and Carole Abitz for passing out meeting fliers last Sat. We also thank Carole Abitz and Sandra Gamboa for meeting with City Council members to try to get city-wide support to include the Pearsall Rd Park project in the upcoming city bond issue. We thank John & Judy Adams for participating in the recent Southside Initiative public meetings to help us stay informed.
