Basura Bash on Indian Creek

Mar 27, 2004

A small group of volunteers met Saturday morning, on Mar 20, to make a dent and clean up part of Indian Creek as part of the city-wide effort call Basura Bash. We thank Pearsall Rd Baptist Church for providing us a gathering and trash pick up spot. We thank Divine Providence Catholic Church for providing us a trash pick up spot and additional parking if needed. We thank Tax Express/Great Celebrations Catering for providing free water and restroom facilities for our volunteers. Mostly, we thank our volunteers: Danielle Jones, Cathy Zeigler, Matthew Gravlin, Michael Bohdan, Chrystal Spitalsky, Alexis Gamboa, Timothy Crace, Mary Floyd, Debra Floyd, Isaiah Gamboa, John & Judy Adams, Carole Abitz, & Rojelio Hernandez.
Four other volunteers were awesome in their efforts; they really personified the slogan of ?“Clean It Like You Mean It?”. Without their involvement, we would have never cleaned as much as we did. Those Superstars were:
- Sandra Gamboa, she led and monitored a group of teens in a thorough clean-up.
- Eufemia Mann, she provided coffee & water, picked up trash, handled registration, transported the lunches, and helped all around.
- Annie Gonzales, she went after the tires and other large items with a vengeance!
- Armando Gamboa, he too pulled out many huge water-logged items; a box spring, mattresses, etc.!
