- Sat, May 1, Lifeguard Recruitment Fair, 10 AM?—2 PM, Lion?’s Field Adult & Senior Citizen Center, 2809 Broadway. For good swimmers (ages 16 & up). Training will be provided for lifeguards hired to work at the city?’s 21 outdoor pools this summer (Jun 5?—Aug 8). Bring driver?’s license & Social Security card. Info: 207-3113.
- Sun, May 2, Turn Over a New Leaf Annual Herb & Plant Sale, 10 AM?—4 PM, Lion?’s Field Adult & Senior Citizens Center, 2809 Broadway. Lectures, demonstrations, food and refreshments. Info: 826-9041.
- Wed, May 12, First Annual Strumming on the River, 7?—9 PM, Arneson River Theater, LaVillita. Ukulele entertainment and Hawaiian dancers. Fund-raiser for Commander?’s House and Lion?’s Field Adult & Senior Citizen Centers. $5 donation at the door. Info: 224-1684.
- Mass registration for Kid Quest ( SAPAR school-site-based Summer Recreation Program), 10 AM?—2 PM, San Antonio ISD Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta. 40 school sites (to be announced). The Program, for children ages 6?—14, will run from 7:30 AM?—5:30 PM, M-F, from Jun 7 through Jul 30. $5 supply fee per child, plus $25 registration fee for some classes selected. Info: 207-3000.
