What Happened to the Sky Harbour Entrance Sign?

Feb 01, 2004

About 2 AM, Sat, Dec 20th, a Sky Harbour resident was attempting to turn on to Old Sky Harbor St. from Old Pearsall Rd. He didn?’t make it and destroyed the SH entrance sign. SWCA obtained a copy of the police report and contacted the driver. He said he understood his financial responsibility to repair/replace the sign. Unfortunately, later we learned that he was an uninsured motorist. SWCA is currently trying to obtain estimates for repair/replacement?—and will follow-up with the driver to encourage him to fulfill his understood responsibility. If, for some reason, he does not, then the SH community has 3 options: 1?—don?’t replace the sign; 2?—take up collections for a replacement sign; 3?—take legal action against the uninsured driver. SWCA has also asked Councilman Perez for city help to clean-up & remove the destroyed sign and installation of telephone post barricades before any attempt is made to replace the sign.
