Texas Sales Tax Holiday, Fri-Sun, Aug 6-8

Texas shoppers get a break from local and state sales taxes (on selected items) during the state?’s sixth annual tax holiday which begins at 12:01 AM, Fri and ends at midnight on Sun. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of this sales tax holiday. Qualifying items that had been put on lay-away may be picked up tax-free during this period. Additionally, qualifying items put on lay-away during the holiday, can be picked up tax-free later.
The tax exemption applies to work clothes & uniforms, baby clothes, belts (with buckles), dresses, gloves, jackets, jeans, gym clothes & uniforms, coats & wraps, ties, raincoats & ponchos, many types of shoes, pajamas, robes, slippers, socks, underwear, jackets, sweaters, caps, jogging apparel and other athletic clothing commonly worn on the street. There is no limit on the number of items which can be purchased during the holiday.
