Effective Feb 2, 2009, in accordance with local, county, and state law and Southwest ISD policy, the SWISD Police Department will be empowered to arrest and cite people. This is an effort to increase the safety of all students. SWISD police are fully licensed police officers with the same authority as San Antonio Police officers and Bexar County Sheriff?’s deputies. This affects anyone and everyone who attends, is employed by, or who conducts business with SWISD and its properties, or anyone who visits within the boundaries of SWISD.
