Sat, Jun 7, 8:30 AM?—2 PM, the 14th annual city-wide Neighborhood Conference will be held in Bldg 171, Kelly USA. The conference is FREE and open to the public. Parking is FREE and there's lots of it.
This is the first time, this conference has been held in our part of town; let?’s have a good turn-out. We especially encourage new homeowners to attend?—they?’ll find answers to many of their questions.
From our area, the easiest way to get there is:
- Old Pearsall Rd to SW Military Dr, turn right.
- On SW Military, at the first traffic light past the railroad overpass, turn left on Bynum Ave.
- Stay on Bynum headed north and it will become Quintana Rd.
- Stay on Quintana Rd over the large railroad overpass (over Gen Hudnell Drive), turn left immediately after the overpass to get on Gen Hudnell Dr.
- Follow Gen Hudnell Dr through what used to be the main gate at Kelly AFB and is now the main entrance to Kelly USA.
- At the first traffic light on Kelly USA, turn left on Crickett Dr.
- Follow that almost to the end. The one-story, expansive building on the right is Bldg 171. It has many entrances, but you could walk for miles inside if you go in the wrong one, so watch for signs to the best entrance.
Registration starts at 8:30 AM (usually with complimentary coffee, juice, and pastries) with the Welcome session at 9 AM. At 9:30, 3 sessions of one-hour workshops start. You choose the workshops you want to go to. You?’ll also have the option of getting a tour of Kelly USA during each session. Lunch will start at 12:30, with a program and awards being presented. [$6 will buy you a box lunch consisting of a sandwich, cookie, soft drink, and chips. Some people think this is over-priced. If you agree, you can also take your own sandwich and drink. If there is interest, as in the past, SWCA attendees can meet afterwards at a local restaurant for food and talk.]
If you have any questions, need help with transportation, can provide help with transportation, or want to go to lunch afterwards with other SWCA compadres, call 623-4965 and leave a message.
