Late word from Councilman Martin?’s office is that they have gotten approval to use $100,000 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to de-silt Millers Pond. [CDBG funds are federal tax dollars returned to special-needs areas to help with various projects.] According to the Councilman?’s office, hopefully, the work will be done this year. As mentioned in last month?’s newsletter, the project was estimated at $95,000 and will involve draining the pond (while protecting the fish, etc) and bulldozing out about 40,000 cubic yards of silt. The silt will be spread over the land at Millers Pond Park.
