-Spinnaker Events Announcement-
The Spinnaker Cove Board of Directors has attempted to transform the structure of event coordination from an individual who is in charge of every event (social chair) to events run autonomously by committed volunteers. To convert to a self supporting event system, surveys have been sent to the neighborhood for the past three years asking for volunteers on a by-event basis. Unfortunately, the total number of volunteers has been less than required for most events. The same people who were the Social Chairs for the years prior still did the majority of the work. We have now come to the point where those same people have indicated they will not be contributing their time for the upcoming season. Since the surveys did not produce the required results, events will only be scheduled for the upcoming season if volunteers come forward that are willing to organize the events themselves or are willing to recruit the remaining people required. There aren?’t any people left to pick up the slack and events aren?’t mandatory. The role of the Board is to provide ideas for events that people want to attend and to use paid dues in ways that benefit all of us. While it may be sad that events that have carried on for many years will go away, the neighborhood determines what will be kept and what will go. Below is a list of upcoming events for the fall and winter season. Those people who have already been gracious enough to commit to making those events happen are listed next to their event. The events without volunteers will be cancelled unless volunteers come forward to run them. Anyone willing to take part organizing an event can borrow the neighborhood guidebook which outlines what needs to be done in great detail. Please contact any Board Member if you wish to help. We really hope that these events will continue for another season.
