Hermosa Estates Developer Required to Restore Disturbed Desert

This development of 31 lots on 40 acres on the SW corner of Hawes and Hermosa Vista Roads was planned to meet the updated Desert Uplands Standards. However, during the construction of the streets and other infrastructure, the plants that had been transplanted to a nursery all died and construction equipment damaged some of the areas that were supposed to be preserved. In addition, the ?“building envelopes?” on the individual lots were larger than is allowed. When the city became aware of these violations of the Desert Uplands Standards it took them seriously and required the builder to stop all construction until a plan to correct the damage was approved and implementation was underway.
