Red Mountain Freeway Construction Begins

The Red Mountain Freeway is scheduled for completion in August of 2008. McKellips Road is closed for bridge and freeway construction until early 2007. When it is open, Brown Road will be closed for similar work, McDowell Road will be closed last and during the summer to avoid conflicts with Las Sendas Elementary School traffic. ADOT and the contractor believe that each closure will be shorter than the last as they become more familiar with the work to be done. The McKellips and Brown Road intersections will be the first in the east valley to utilize the ?“Roundabout?” design with no traffic lights. This section of freeway will be landscaped with desert plants.
