Apparently, the meeting was much needed because motions and emotions were flying as the HOA re-energizes.
First, South Point developers were recognized and publicly thanked for donating $5,000 to improve the neighborhood entrance.
Second, the South Point developer's representative informed us that their lots are selling and going for $50K - $70K each. Each purchaser gets a one-year membership to the golf course. This summer they intend to add a sprinkler system to the golf course and improve the beach area, but they are deferring other improvement until it can be paid from South Point and golf course revenues. Presently, the golf course is operating at a $200K annual loss. They still intend to build condos on the beach.
Regarding the water system, They donated an acre to St. Andrews Water and Sewer between Biddix Rd and Pinehurst for location of a water storage system. Lastly, they are sponsoring free 9 holes of golf for the neighborhood starting 5:00 P.M. on 3/29.
The HOA voted to meet the third Monday of every other month for the foreseeable future and a membership committee was formed. They are expected to personally visit each homeowner who has not joined the HOA. Additionally, the HOA voted to increase dues to $25/year (South Point HOA dues are $40/year).
Other items discussed include undesirables such as speeding, signs, debris dumping, and golfers playing on homeowner lawns. All were requested to place their suggestions and comments in a box to be located at the clubhouse or on this website.
The next meeting is expected to include the Sheriff, the Fire Chief, and the Supervisor as guest speakers.
