School Discipline and Safety

In light of the recent tragedy at Columbine High School, and the rampage of horrific events related to teen
violence, Falcon School District is performing the mandated distribution the student conduct and discipline
code books for the 1999 ?–2000 school year. The manual is a full service guide on issues affecting the health
and welfare of our children in District 49 schools.

Strict district policy on issues such as weapons in school, drug and alcohol use, gang or secret society
membership, and sexual harassment are discussed and disciplinary procedures are outlined in the guide.
These issues are a just a few of many facing students in schools around the country today.

As adults, we wonder what happened to the youth of this country and what we can do about bringing
serenity back to school life. One way is to educate your self, and family on the rules and regulations of the
school they attend. Tell them to ?“speak up?” if they notice other youths violating rules. Whether they speak
directly to an offender or alert school authorities to unacceptable behavior, they may be saving the lives of
