The Strawberry Farms Civic Association will honor the memory of devoted neighborhood volunteer Bruce Heffelfinger on Saturday, March 19 at the Rt. 161 entrance. Bruce, who worked tirelessly to improve his neighborhood, died suddenly in a December traffic accident. Many residents knew him by sight as the vice president of neighborhood beautification who most noticeably weeded and planted the front island and posted signs for special events. The appeal of the Rt. 161 entrance during the spring and summer reflected Bruce's attention and devotion to his neighborhood. His presence will be sorely missed. At 11 a.m. on March 19, the SFCA will dedicate a plaque in his honor that will read simply, "In Memoriam, Bruce Heffelfinger, 1955-2004." The plaque will be permanently affixed to the Rt. 161 island entrance sign as a testament to his volunteer activities.
