Block Captains are the eyes and ears of the neighborhood association. They are usually the very first person a new resident talks to upon moving into the neighborhood! They're friendly folks who enjoy visiting with others in their neighborhood and are individuals who enjoy being involved in things happening in their neighborhood.
And......most importantly, they deliver YOUR SPNA newsletter 9 times a year right to your front door each month. Many of our block captains have been doing newsletter delivery for 10-20 years!
Block Captains may also do some of the following in their assigned blocks....
1) Introduces self to each resident.
2) Invites new residents to meetings.
3) Keeps a list of residents.
4) Reports any block news to Assoc.
Your individual Block Captain may do many other things for his/her assigned block......just because they're great folks who care! Take time this month to say thanks to your Block Captain!

SPNA always needs new Block Captains! We've had a couple of BC's who've had to let their route go and these need filled immediately! You'll also notice on the list above that some Block Captains are delivering more than one block so new volunteers are always needed.
You can volunteer for a block in neighborhood or you can volunteer to be a "backup" and fill in when someone is unable to make their newsletter delivery. Either way, your help will definitely be appreciated!
If you're interested in being a Block Captain for SPNA, please click on the link below and contact Mike Truel (email or telephone) or Pat Miller (telephone) to volunteer.
If you'd like to meet with the Block Captains before you volunteer, please feel free to attend a Block Captain meeting which is held at the Monroe Elementary School immediately before each regular SPNA monthly meeting. Block Captains meet to discuss any neighborhood matters. They would be happy to talk with you and tell you exactly what each of them do for their neighbors.
One rule all Block Captains MUST abide by is:
Newsletters MUST NOT be placed in or on the mailbox. This is a Federal offense which bears a stiff fine!! Newsletters can be placed anywhere else on the residents' porches.
Be a part of your neighborhood organization......be involved......be a Block Captain and enjoy meeting your neighbors!
