Monthly Meeting Recap......Party fun!

SPNA hosted their annual December Holiday party on Monday, Dec. 12th. It was well-attended with residents, members, guests....and yummy food to share. Lots of visiting went on and a good time was had by all attending. The hot apple cider and hot chocolate were definitely a hit with all.

Mike Truel, SPNA President, introduced the SPNA officers, newsletter and web coordinators.

The new "Christmas and Holiday Lights" contest sign was introduced to all and Kris Van Buren was applauded for her work in designing and painting the sign. Mike Truel asked for volunteers to judge the contest and three stepped forward.

On arrival at the party, each visitor received a ticket. Later in the meeting a drawing was held for a beautiful painting of a scene in Smitty Park. The painting was created by Kris Van Buren. The winner was Ms. Hayes who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Manning.

Little business is usually done at the December meeting....but Mike Truel did talk about the new trees awaiting planting in Smitty Park as well as the new equipment which will be added to Smitty Park. Also mentioned was the info about several cars in the neighborhood which had their windows broken while parked in the street and also residents are still being plagued with the paving problems with NW 49th Street.

And....now that the party is over, we'd like to thank everyone:

Thanks to all of you who came early to help set up the party.....Thanks to Joe Manning for keeping up with all the paper products and for the use of his terrific Hot Water pot.....Thanks to all of you who brought all the delicious snacks.......and, last but not least, thanks to all of you who stayed and helped clean up, too!

Holiday Contest WINNERS - Paul & Jeanne Meyer - Congratulations!

Friday, Dec. 17th, the SPNA Judges were out and about.....making a list and checking it twice. They had such a hard job because there were so many beautifully decorated homes in Suggs Park Neighborhood!

But.....they were out to find a Winner and they certainly did!

The winners of the SPNA 2005 Christmas and Holiday Lights Contest were:

Paul and Jeanne Meyer
2312 NW 45th Place

The Meyers set a beautiful woodlawn scene in their front yard. Three reindeer grazed among the berms, trees and multi-color lit cedars. Their drive was lined in multi-color lights. and a large star shone down on the grazing reindeer as candles glowed from their upstairs windows. All a beautiful sight for a winter night.

Congratulations to the Meyers!!

They were very surprised and happy to hear that they were chosen as the SPNA Winners!! An Olive Gardens gift certificate was presented to the Meyers for being the contest winner.

The SPNA "WINNER" sign was placed in their yard. Hope everyone got by to see the Meyers' display and the new SPNA sign!

Many residents decorated their homes this year! We thank each and every one of you for sharing your holiday spirit with others in the neighborhood.

All the decorated homes were so beautiful! As hard as we tried, our night photos in the album just aren't as beautiful as when seeing the home in person were! We hope everyone took time to drive through Suggs Park and see the homes that were decorated.

The holiday spirit was out in Suggs Park Neighborhood in 2005!

We apologize if we didn't get a photo of your home online this year.....but, hang in there because there's always next year!
