The new Eastbank Riverfront park is intended to put people back in touch with the Willamette River. Imagine walking out over the water on the new 1000 foot floating walkway along the east bank of the Willamette with your family and friends on a Sunday afternoon, biking more easily to work over new connections between the eastside and westside, or running a loop across the bridges at lunchtime. Over time, recreational elements will be added, including a dayuse boat tieup and a light watercraft dock and boathouse. Environmentally sensitive plantings will enhance the site, and the pathway will take you past artwork and interpretive elements telling the tale of the historic eastside water
front. Phases I and 11, between the Steel Bridge and the Hawthorne Bridge, are scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2000.
