BEAUTIFICATION

Feb 22, 2009

I?’m sure that you?’ve noticed the damage to the grass area at the front entrance. The Board voted to authorize $500 to decompress the ruts and re-level the ground. That work was completed last week.
For the upcoming season, we are considering several maintenance options:
?· Hire a professional landscaper to mow, trim, edge treat for weeds and fertilize
?· Use the professional for part of the season to get things back into shape and then take it over ourselves
?· Rotate the job among interested resident kids?—please notify Jude if you?’re interested, so the Board will know whether there is enough interest to make this a viable option.
Since the professional option is expensive (about $4500 per year), the Board would like your input before making a decision. Please call or email one of us with your ideas.
Jude is in touch with the City?’s L.E.A.F program, which gives trees to associations and individuals each year. The deadline for applying is March 1st, and Jude will be heading-up our submission. We obtained the new redbud trees for the entrance through L.E.A.F. last year and hope to replace those that didn?’t make it through that program. If you want to be included for your property, contact Jude. More info at: http://www.arlingtontx.gov/park/forestry/LEAF/
We?’re also considering a Yard of the Month program in conjunction with Calloway?’s Nursery. We?’ll send out more details to follow if we are accepted into that program.
