Dear Neighbors,
I recently had the opportunity to sit down and discuss the progress of the development in Summerhill with Edward Bowen, who is the Principal of E.W. Bowen & Company. For those of your who were involved in the re-zoning process, and for those who were not, Mr. Bowen is the developer that has partnered and is working with the largest land owner along the Georgia Ave and Hank Aaron Dr. corridor. They are currently developing their plan and are reaching out to additional land owners in order to put together a contiguous "all inclusive" development plan for the area. These efforts are in the best interest of the community which will give us "one master developer" to meet the needs of the community, and provide an overall approach to ascetics and construction. Below is the point by point update of how the process is going:
1) E.W. Bowen & Company have met with and received the support of Tefra Muche to include his parking lot along Hank Aaron into their development plan;
2) They are continuing to assembled various out parcel in order to square off entire blocks;
3) They are in conversation with Kentucky Fried Chicken to acquire their corner location which would be a marquee piece of property in the entire development;
4) They have commissioned a market study for to validate their development plans;
5) They have formed a partnership with a national master plan developer to look at the entire area for highest and best use within the guidelines of the new zoning, including the Braves parking lots.
Schedule permitting, it is my plan to invite E.W. Bowen & Company to share their progress and update the entire community at our September meeting.
