NEWS and Information
Thank You - Many thanks go to the residents who have been doing some weeding and trimming at the front entrance and other spots. That was one area of the lawn maintenance that was cut back to save some money.
Ponds - Ponds were treated on July 11. They are already looking much better. We have spent thousands of dollars on maintaining the ponds. Recently we found out that the swampy area further down on Till Rd. drains directly into our front pond and that in turn drains into the small front pond. Now we know why we have spent thousands of dollars. We have obtained original plans for Sutters Cove that show all the storm drains. We have calls in to the city Storm Sewer Dept., for them to come and look at it and see what they can or will do.
Runoff from the streets drains directly into all three ponds. This means that when you wash your car, that sudsy water ends up in a pond and has to be treated. Any chemicals you use on your lawn can wash into the ponds either directly or through the street drains. Again this causes us to pay more to treat the ponds. Please try and use ?“pond friendly?” products when washing your car or tending you lawn. Check with your lawn professional or if you are a do-it-yourselfer, ask at the store.
Common Areas - No motorized vehicles of any kind are allowed on the common areas. They tear up the grass and make ruts that need to be repaired. Violators will be billed for any common area lawn repair.
Children - It?’s summer, school is out and children are playing. Residents, please slow down and watch for children. Parents, please remind your children to be courteous to other residents.
Geese - Please DO NOT feed the geese ! Geese eat grass, not bread, cookies, seeds or other things. Food left on the common areas will attract rodents and other pests. Anyone who leaves food on the common area for any reason will be billed for any clean-up or removal of geese or pests.
Here are some articles on this subject from Indiana DNR.

?“While many people enjoy seeing Canada geese, problems can occur when too many geese concentrate in one area. Geese are grazers and feed extensively on fresh, short, green grass. Geese, including their young, also have a strong tendency to return to the same area year after year. Once geese start nesting in a particular place, the stage is already set for more geese in successive years. The problem is further exacerbated when well-intentioned people purposefully feed geese. Artificial feeding of geese tends to concentrate larger numbers of geese in areas that under normal conditions would only support a few geese. Artificial feeding can also disrupt normal migration patterns and hold geese in areas longer than what would be normal. With an abundant source of artificial food available, geese can devote more time to locating nesting sites and mating. Artificial feeding can also concentrate geese on adjacent properties where their presence may not be welcomed, resulting in neighbor/neighborhood conflicts. Geese can rapidly denude lawns, turning them into barren, dirt areas.
Geese are particularly aggressive during breeding and nesting season. Their behavior can cause problems around businesses when geese attack and nip at workers and customers.?”
Fences/Decks/Playsets etc. - All outside structures must be passed by the architectural committee. Send your plans to the Sutters Cove address above and include drawings, materials descriptions, and any thing else that will help them make their decision.
Thieves - We have had reports of groups of young people breaking into cars left outside overnight. If you see them or have had a break in, please report it to the police.
