What's interesting about all of this is....

The city continues to tell us that there are no plans available for us to look at (which is odd isn't it considering that they've submitted a design to acquire 53 parcels in Segment B?)

Why many of us don't buy some of this....

We were told (at public meetings) that all land was being acquired and would be completed last year, 2001, in time to stay on schedule and start construction 2002

We were told that as an act of good faith (since McKinley was being done first) that the bridge segment would be constructed simultaneously.

The city of Tampa is due to receive over $9 million this year for this project, to be used for segments not overall project work(just recently doubled according to the FDOT website) and yet we see very little activity.

Mayor Nuccio promised a rebuilt road in the 1960's and we all know what happened to that promise.

Although communications were proceeding nicely for a while, the city seems to be holding all information on this project hostage. There must be drawings, records, something to look at to verify the claims and promiss the city is making.

One thing is clear: this is the first time the state DOT has allowed Tampa to do a project of this scope on its' own. A lot is at stake for the city as well as the neighborhood and if the city does not respond appropriately to our concerns we do, as a neighborhood, have the right to complain to DOT including asking them to resume ownership of the project.
