- Two model homes between Dobie and Barbara Jordan are almost complete. For those concerned about the ?“Big Oak Tree?”?…Continental Homes and City Officials said the tree will be saved and ultimately be the centerpiece of a park.

-The Thistle Creek Dr. and Notchleaf entrance clean-up project was a huge success. Phase 1 residents came together and donated $450. To save contractor fees, we organized a community clean-up party. Fifteen volunteers showed up on a Saturday morning armed with shovels, gloves, and a strong desire to make a difference. After cleaning up and re-mulching the entire area Texas Hydro Wash came in and pressure washed all the curbs and surrounding brick. To ensure the gate doesn?’t regress back to it?’s original state of disaster, the group agreed to conduct routine maintenance on an as needed basis. The Spice Oak entrance is next!

- A work order was initiated with the city to repaint all area fire hydrants. Work will be completed by Nov.

- This month ProComm sent 16 letters of violation to homeowners not in compliance with covenants. A few examples of violations were lawns required maintenance, unsightly items are being stored on the side of homes, basketball poles in the street, and boats were parked on the premises. If you receive a letter and have questions, please 1st review your copy of the DCCR. We will be happy to visit with you and discuss our concerns.

- We are still working with the city to establish a routine grass-cutting schedule along Dietz Rd and behind Spice Oak. We discussed this issue with City Officials and were told Dietz is a county road, but Cibolo cuts it as a courtesy when manpower and equipment is available. He relayed the city would ultimately like to annex Dietz road from the county and split it between Schertz and Cibolo.

- Is Dietz Rd construction complete? We asked the city and they are unsure! They are still trying to install drainage pipes, but ran into a few problems with a property owner. Unfortunately, they have no plans to finish the sidewalks on Spice Oak and are looking into optional ways for the kids to walk to Dobie and Watts rather than having them walk along Dietz. This one will be interesting!!

- Good news, Cibolo is hiring a 2nd Code Enforcement Inspector. This will allow the city to be proactive and enforce a few minor codes that have been overlooked in the past.

- For residents with backyards along Thistle Creek Dr (Barbara Jordan Elementary), you are responsible to cut the grass behind the fences on your property. I know this will be a pain for those without a back gate, but the city says this area is your property. In the spirit of good neighboring, while you?’re out there, how about saving your neighbor a trip by cutting their grass! Maybe they?’ll return the favor!

- Please observe all safety signs when driving through the area. The speed limit throughout Thistle Creek is 20 MPH. With 3 schools in the immediate area traffic is very congested and we hope to have an accident free year.

- During the month of August our Thistle Creek Drive/Nochleaf entrance was vandalized twice. Both times the light covers and florescent bulbs were broken. This is starting to get expensive. If you notice kids playing in the area please either question them or notify the Cibolo Police Dept.
