Thank you to the residents who took time to fill out our Neighborhood Questionnaire. Several ideas have been incorporated into the 2003 activity plan. Questions about the neighborhood have also been answered by the developers.

1. When will the lake ceremony take place? Residents will be notified in an upcoming newsletter as well as a flyer once a date is set. We are also planning to have a trout release depending on how the filling of the lake progresses. The conditions must be perfect but we?’ll try to give notice a few days in advance.

2. When will the Neighborhood Crime Watch signs be posted? The signs are at the Model and we are in the process of purchasing posts. We will then contact the county to have them installed.

3. Will the streets be swept in the Spring? We swept the streets last year for a cost of $500. The truck emptied twice but neighbors commented that the streets did not look any better so no plans for sweeping this Spring.

4. I?’ve noticed builders dumping trash on empty lots and burning banned items. What can I do? The developers continue to share this concern with builders. If you see a specific area of concern, please contact John or David Barth at the Model home. If you see someone burning banned items, please contact the Fire Department.

5. The street sign on Forest has Forest Drive on one side, Forest Avenue on the other. Can this be fixed? Yes, this will be corrected.

6. The post office says my address is really NW Forest Drive. Is it or is it N Forest Drive? This is an issue we are investigating. At the time the street signs were posted, the county provided an address of N Forest Drive.

7. Is my city Parkville or Kansas City? The official city linked to Zip Code 64152 is Kansas City. The Parkville post office delivers our mail. According to the Parkville post office, either city is acceptable.

8. Who is the Home Owners Association (HOA) contact? JD Land, HOA Manager, 6625 Nevada, 880-0315

9. Who do I contact if I haven?’t received an invoice for my HOA Dues? Contact Susan Cooper at SE Cooper & Associates, 587-9558.

10. I heard of a resident that hasn?’t paid their dues. How is the HOA ensuring everyone is paying their 2003 dues? Susan Cooper is in the process of notifying residents. She has rebilled 36 homes.

11. When will Brink-Meyer be paved? Why is the street currently closed? The developers have completed all the necessary improvements per the county?’s request. We are now waiting for the county to complete the project. The street is currently closed until the county completes the paving.

12. Can we add speed bumps or add stop signs to the streets that would be considered a 4-way stop? At this time, speed bumps are not a viable option. We are also unable to get any additional stop signs posted at this time. If you notice people speeding, please contact the police. The more calls they receive, the more they will patrol the streets in Thousand Oaks.

13. When will the playground, tennis courts and new Pool be added? At this time, there are no final dates for completion.

14. I?’ve noticed residents violating covenants. What can I do about it? Contact: JD Land, HOA Manager, 6625 Nevada, 880-0315

Here is an opportunity for you to become part of a group called Moms in Touch International. It is a group of mothers who meet for one hour each week to pray for their children and the schools they attend. We know our children face much pressure at school and to ?“stand in the gap?” through prayer is the best gift we can give them. If you are interested in being part of this praying support group, please contact Tammy Saylor at 584-1045.

**Ronald McDonald House**

Several residents have begun to prepare a meal for residents of the Ronald McDonald House every few months. The Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City serves as a ?“home away from home?” for families of children ages newborn to 18 receiving critical medical care in the Kansas City area. Volunteer to fix a dish or drop off the meal. To participate in this community activity, please contact Christie Allen at 891-0119.

**Neighborhood Support**

Coming from a small community, I was thinking the other day ?‘what is it that makes the difference??’ I realized it is people helping others that make a neighborhood a community. I think it would be nice to start a phone tree of people interested in helping neighbors in times of need. Maybe you know of a family that has a newborn and could use help with meals. Or someone who has to take care of an ill mother and needs someone to check on the house. There are so many scenarios where we can help. I would love to have your suggestions on how we can put a plan into action. If you would like to participate, please give me a call. Because we are so busy, if we work together as a group with each person doing a little, we could make a big difference in a lot of lives. ?—Theresa Emerson, 880-4642
