***Neighborhood Crime Watch Established***
With the neighborhood crime that took place earlier this year, several area residents decided to coordinate a Neighborhood Watch Group.
Officer Dave Thornberg spoke to residents late this summer to explain what they could do to reduce the risk of crime. Here are some ideas he shared:
Leave your outside lights on at night.
Do not leave your garage door open when you are not in the yard.
If you see people in new construction homes in the neighborhood past 9 p.m., please contact authorities.
He also encouraged each each family to join the Neighborhood Watch Program. By joining the program, you agree to the following.
We herein agree to work together to protect and enhance each other?’s lives, property and quality of living by forming this block watch area. Furthermore, we agree to the installation of crime watch signs informing others of our commitment.
The crime watch signs will be posted soon. Signs for your window will also be available at the next meeting.
To sign up for the Neighborhood Watch, please contact Lana Leibee at 891-9210 or lleibee@msn.com.
To report a violation, please contact authorities at 816-858-3521.
***Flag Flying Etiquette***
It is heartwarming to see so many residents displaying the Flag. Here are just a few etiquette guidelines for the stars and stripes. For the full list, please visit:
www.usflag.org/us.code36.html
When displayed vertically, the union should be to the observer?’s left (from the street the union should be on the left, the stripes on the right).
The Flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if it is illuminated at night.
The Flag should not be displayed on inclement weather days unless it is an all-weather flag.
When the Flag is displayed on a vehicle, the staff should be fixed firmly to the chassis or the right fender.
Do not let the Flag touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, floor or water.
The Flag should never be used as a drapery, it should always be allowed to fall free.
