TPNA Volunteer Programs

The Timrod Park Neighborhood Association coordinates several programs with the assistance of neighborhood volunteers, including:

Safe Neighborhood Awareness Program (SNAP, our version of Crime Watch)

Calling All Walkers & Talkers.  Do you like to walk around your neighborhood just to get outdoors, to work in some of the recommended 10,000 steps of exercise, and to enjoy viewing the variety of architectural styles of homes? Do you like to meet your neighbors and get better acquainted? Then you are just the person we are looking for to serve as a Street Captain for the Timrod Park Neighborhood Association (TPNA).

The duties of a TPNA Street Captain are easy to fulfill:

-Distribute the TPNA newsletter and an occasional flyer with information for your neighbors about special events.

-Attend one evening meeting each month on the first Tuesday, to plan TPNA activities and join with other neighbors who are interested in the betterment of our unique, historic neighborhood.

-Help to educate and gather contact information on their street.  

-This year's objective is to lay ground work for the creation of the Neighborhood Directory.

Beautification Committee

Do you love gardening or are you a landscaper?  Then this is the group for you!  There are so many ways to participate in the program.  

Some of the duties are listed below:

-Attend one evening meeting each month on the first Tuesday, to report on Timrod Park Neighborhood Beautification programs.

-Coordinate, Plan and Attend meetings for neighborhood beautification programs

-Programs to include:

  • Spring Street Clean-Up Day 
  • Spring Plant Swap
  • Spring Flower Show
  • Streetscape enhancements (trees and plantings, litter reduction, gateway identification and facade enhancements)
  • Local Historic Designation (historic signage)
  • Infrastructure Improvements (neighborhood signs, historic lighting, neighborhood kiosk, Timrod Park, storm water management)
  • Entrance & Corridor Improvements and linking neighborhood to amenities such as grocery store, krispy cream, etc.
  • Help to care for and create garden beds in our public spaces . 
  • Assist the elderly with yard maintenance
  • Funding Proposal Program for Beautification

 

Timrod Park Neighborhood Home, Garden and Auto Tour Committee

Our goal is to make this our annual fundraising event.  We need help in 2010 for the 2011 tour.  Committees include:  

Marketing, Sponsorship, Volunteers, Set Up, Clean-up, Entertainment & Food, Vintage Automobiles, Logistics, Tickets, Graphics, Mailing List, Security/Safety, Web Design 

 


Front Porch News (newsletter) Distribution Manager

Coordinates the distribution of our newsletter to Street Captains.

Photographer 

Take photos at neighborhood special events and activities.

 

Association Representative to City Council

Attend Florence City Council Meetings on behalf of the Timrod Park Neighborhood Association

 

Historian

Documents the neighborhood's events, achievements and milestones for posterity.  Creates and implements recognition programs for homes turning 100 years old.

Social Committee 

Helps to plan and set up the Annual Neighborhood Yard Sale, Annual Spring Fling, Outdoor Concert Series- "Sundays in the Park", etc.
