TOONERVILLE TROLLEY NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
MEETING MINUTES ?– November 18, 2004

Present: Elizabeth Austin, Jacqueline Brown, Ken Cordle, Phil DiBlasi, William Dillinger, Don Driskell, Jan Hemberger, Jennifer Hamilton, Patti Horton, Bill Kessler, Kevin Kouba, Jo Ann Macy, Steve Rodgers, Wanda Stanley, Dale Tucker, Gail Tucker, Helga Ulrich, Bill Walsh, Nancy Woodcock, and Chris Hart.


Toonerville President Dale Tucker called meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Chapel of St. Philip,

Helga Ulrich provided a report of the last meeting of the Property Improvement Committee (P.I.C.), including the status of the following properties:
?• Determining ownership of building in 1500 block of S. Floyd
?• Levying fine against owner of commercial property at 1st/Burnett
?• Attempt to have owner repair porch roof on residence @ Hill Bend

P.I.C. and the Zoning and Land Use (Z.A.L.U.) committees are evaluating a proposal for the design of pay telephone booths to be placed in 4 locations within the boundaries of Old Louisville. These phones would have the capacity to prohibit ?“incoming?” calls.

Nancy Woodcock thanked all those who participated in the fall neighborhood clean up of the 1100 & 1200 blocks of Brook and 1st Streets. A recommendation was made that our clean-up efforts should be concentrated only on areas within Toonerville where residents exhibit and active willingness to participate.

The nominating committee (Jennifer Hamilton, Nancy Woodcock, and J.D. Schall) presented the proposed slate of Toonerville officers for 2005:

?• Vice President ?– Kevin Koura
?• Treasurer ?– Don Driskell
?• Secretary ?– Jo Ann Macy

Dale Tucker asked if there were any nominations from the floor for others to be included in the proposed slate of officers for 2005 (none). He reminded those in attendance that the Vice President is also the President-elect.

Toonerville?’s annual Holiday Party (and December monthly meeting) will be held at the home of Bill and Rebecca Kessler ?– 1301 South Brook Street. Chris (Secretary) will mail out postcard invitations/reminders to all association members. The Holiday Party will be held on Thursday evening, December 16, 2004, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will be a potluck (members are asked to bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert to share). A motion was made (and seconded) for the TTNA to pay for meat; the motion was amended to include that TTNA also pay for paper goods. Patti Horton offered to prepare the meat and to serve as the telephone contact for RSVP. Her telephone number is 636-3031, and will be included on the invitation.

A listing of the proposed locations for trash receptacle placement within Toonerville?’s boundaries was distributed.

Don Driskell discussed the upcoming Old Louisville Holiday House Tour, and provided flyers and posters for distribution. Anyone interested in volunteering for this event should contact him.

TTNA has agreed to participate in the OLNC fundraiser. Dale has 96 tickets available for purchase ($10.00 each). A total of 12 pairs of round-trip airline tickets will be given away, compliments of Southwest Airlines. The drawing is December 7, 2004.

Bill Walsh provided an overview of the history of the Chapel of St. Philip and adjoining properties. Current tenants include the Hispanic-Latino Coalition, Casa Latina, and the West End Baptist Church. He thanked TTNA for its donation of $500.00 to the Chapel to offset the cost of furnace repairs.

Jennifer Hamilton, ticket #046179, was the winner of tonight?’s door prize.

Nancy Woodcock reported that Alan Bishop, Arborist for Metro Louisville would continue addressing the replacement and removal of trees within Toonerville next week.

Don Driskell discussed the Oak Street Charrette. The Old Louisville Community Development Corporation has been established, and they are seeking funds to create a long-term development strategy for businesses in the Old Louisville area. A motion was made (seconded) that further discussions regarding Toonerville?’s commitment to their fundraising efforts be tabled until our January, 2005 meeting. Don asked that residents of Old Louisville begin to refer to our neighborhood as ?“Historic Old Louisville.?”
