Saturday, 31 March, was a wonderful day for a clean up! Though it looked like rain, the weather was cool and there were a mess of people who showed up to participate in cleaning up and mulching the tree wells on the 1100 block of 1st and the 1200 block of Brook Streets. Those who lent a hand: Adam and Kori Andrews (from Oak Street ), Bill Casey, Phil DiBlasi, Luann Thurman Hare (with son-in-law and daughter who had just run 10 miles!), Jan Marie Hemberger, Ken Herndon, Taylor Inge, Aaron Jent, Josh and Jodie, Bill Kessler, Dennis Lisack, Helga Ulrich and Nancy Woodcock. Plus there was at least one mystery helper who forgot to sign in.
In addition to picking up trash and leaves along the target blocks, mulch was deposited in the tree wells. The Toonerville Park group got together to plant a few shrubs provided by Ken Herndon and these were situated on the southern entrance to the park.
Toonerville wants to thank all those who gave a hand in sprucing up the neighborhood.
