Maple Ash & Mitchell Park East/West Neighborhoods
TRAFFIC CALMING PROJECT
Background
In December 2007 city of Tempe staff and consultants presented traffic calming concepts at the Maple Ash, Mitchell Park East and Mitchell Park West neighborhood meetings. The purpose of the 3 meetings was to introduce concepts that would address increases in on-neighborhood cut-through traffic in the area bound by University Drive, 13th Street, Mill Avenue and Hardy Drive. Traffic circles, chokers/chicanes, star diverters, and possible street closures have been presented as possibilities. The project proposals can be viewed online (see below).
 What do you think?
Comments on this first phase of public involvement for the project will be accepted until Feb. 29, 2008. After this date, the city will notify all area residents and owners of the next steps for the project, which will include further public notice/comment opportunities, concept refinement, and a test-phase of the possible traffic calming measures. View the concepts at: www.tempe.gov/tim <http://www.temp.gov/tim>  and click on the “Maple Ash and Mitchell Park East/West Neighborhood Traffic Calming Project” link. Mailed copies of the concepts are also available.
