CONGRATULATIONS to the Yard of the Month winners this year.  There were so many nice yards it was very difficult for our judges to select two each month; however the awards were made to the following people:

Steve and Cynthia Ancik at 2804 Allen’s Trail

Steve Fuson at 2905 Mustang Trail

          Patsy Law at 408 Countryside

Mike and Shelley Quiring at 1213 Morrison Trail

          Barbara Swenson at 2812 Countrywood

Bobby Weaver and Diane Everett at 2510 Countrywood

Jerry Cole and wife at 2829 Allen’s Trail

Steve and Susie Zin at 804 Lakeside Circle

Yards receiving honorable  mention are 1209 Allen’s Trail, 2506 Countrywood, 1100 Countrywood, 805 Lakeside, 821 Lakeside, 1209 Morrison, and 2817 Mustang.

Thank you to everyone who has maintained their yards this year.  It really helps to improve the looks of the neighborhood.  Also, a very big thank you to the good Samaritans in the neighborhood who pitched in to help with some very “needy” yards; Curtis Cory, Dwain Crabtree, and Justin McCaulla to name a few.

Note:  If you find yourself in unexpected circumstances and need just a little temporary help, please call the Office at 348-5649.  We will provide you with a list of lawn services operating in the addition.  Also, we have been able to provide volunteers who are willing to help out in emergencies.  That is the true meaning of Neighbors.

Don’t forget the Holiday Light Contest:  For those who are new in the neighborhood, the Association sponsors a holiday light contest each year.  There is no entry required; just decorate your lawn and wait for a sign to appear.

Thanks to the generosity of TLC, we are able to provide gift certificates for both the Yard of the Month winners and to winners of the Holiday Light Contest.  The first prize winner receives a gift certificate in the amount of $100, second place winner receives $50, third place as well as the Board of Director’s Award and the President’s Award receive a gift certificate in the amount of $25.

News Release from the City of Edmond:

Residents are Urged to Register their storm shelter with the City

“Shelter registration is part of our effort to be proactive in response to rescue situations that can occur as a result of severe weather” says Edmond Emergency Management resource specialist.

TRASH DUMPSTERS MUST BE SCREENED FROM SIGHT

At the request of the membership many years ago, the policy of requiring dumpsters be put out of sight by the second day following trash collection was established.  It only takes a few extra seconds and makes the neighborhood look much neater.

There is one notice sent advising a resident of this policy.  There will be no further Courtesy Reminders sent.  If we see your dumpster out on Friday after the normal collection day, your account will be charged $25.

Thank you for complying with this policy.

BOATS, TRAILERS AND STORED VEHICLES:

Unfortunately we must remind you about some of our covenants.

ARTICLE VII, Section 11.1 says “No parking and/or storage of trailers, boats and/or vehicles which are not normally used as every day transportation will be allowed on streets, lots or Common Areas, except where adequate screening has been previously provided and the Architectural Committee has given its prior approval thereto”.

We do realize that this creates a hardship for some of our residents who actually use those trailers each day in their work, but there can be no exceptions made.  This covenant is part of the original Covenants Agreement.

It is not the intent of the Association to create a hardship for any of our residents, but rather our desire to maintain the appearance and property values in our neighborhood.

While we do not consider one covenant to be more important than another, we would like to call your attention to a couple of the covenants and rules which are more frequently violated:

  1. Satellite dishes and antennas: While the association does not discourage the use of this equipment, we do restrict the placement thereof. We ask that these be placed at the back of the house with as little visibility as possible from the street.
  2. Basketball goals: Permanent goals are not allowed except in the backyards out of sight from the streets.  Temporary goals are allowed if they are removed when not in use.
  3. Trash dumpsters: We ask that all trash dumpsters be kept out of sight, either behind the fence, in the garage or behind adequate screening.

If you do not have a copy of the Covenants or are in question about anything, please

call the Association Office at 348-5649.

ATTENTION PET OWNERS:

In nearly every issue of the newsletter, we ask pet owners to be responsible and considerate neighbors.  While we know that you love your pets, unfortunately everyone does not share that enthusiasm with you.

The Edmond City Ordinance requires that your dog must be restricted behind a fence, or on a leash, or in a building at all times. This is known as the “leash law” 7.12.010

We have had reports of dogs attacking other dogs while their owner is walking them properly on a leash.  We have also been alerted that some residents have been hurt while trying to protect their own pets.  This is just not acceptable.

The Association does not enforce these ordinances.  The City of Edmond does.  Most of you carry a cell phone with you while walking.  Please store this number on your phone and call immediately if you see loose dogs – 216-7615.

Another major complaint that we receive frequently is about dogs being allowed to enter their neighbor’s yard for “bathroom duties”.

This is an excerpt from the City Code:

7.09.015 Defecating on sidewalks, public parks, alleys, other places open to the public or on certain private property prohibited; possession of waste removal equipment required; prohibition of public similar nuisance.

(a) No owner, keeper, or person having control of any animal or fowl shall fail to immediately remove and dispose of in a sanitary manner any solid waste deposited by such animal or fowl upon any sidewalk, public park, alley, other place open to the public, or from private property before the owner leaves the immediate area where the solid waste was deposited.

If you witness these events, please call 216-7615 and ask to make an appointment with one of the Animal Shelter Officers who will assist you in resolving these issues.
