Mission Statement

The onging mission of the Department of Housing and Community Development is to ensure that all citizens of Baltimore City have aces to adequate, affordable housing in safe, clean, livable, and decent neighborhoods. The Department is committed to the continuous development and implementation of strategies and programs that promote housing alternatives and commercial energy leading to neighborhod stability and community empowerment. In pursuing its mission, DHCD works with federal, state and local agencies, housing providers, financial institutions, and community organizations to enhance the quality of life in City neighborhoods. Through its Division of Human Services, DHCD will provide a healthy and appropiate level and variety of human services to further enhance the individual, family and community well-being.

> To provide affordable rental housing for low and very low income residents,

> To promote neighborhood stability and conservation through code enforcement and capital improvements,

> To enhance neighborhood commercial development,

> To provide comprehensive array of customer-orientated City services through convenient, community-based service centers.
