The Mar Vista Neighborhood Council, which calls itself the Mar Vista Community Council (MVCC), was certified by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners on August 13, 2002, as the 41st certified neighborhood council in the City of Los Angeles.
Please be sure to distinguish between "Councils" and "Associations". This website belongs to the Ven-Mar Neighborhood Association, whose members are residents of Los Angeles in the area of Venice between Walgrove Avenue and Lincoln Blvd. and in the area of Mar Vista between Walgrove Avenue and Centinela Avenue. We are a free and independent organization of residents, not subject to certification by the City.
The Venice residents of the area served by our neighborhood association are stakeholders in the Grass Roots Venice Neighborhood Council (GRVNC),certified on February 12, 2002. The Mar Vista residents served by our neighborhood association are stakeholders in the Mar Vista Community Council (MVCC), certified on August 13, 2002. You will find links to the neighborhood council websites under the "Community Hotlinks" heading on our Home Page. The term "stakeholder" covers not only residents but also certain non-residents, e.g. those who are "stakeholders", because they work in the area. Each neighborhood council defines this term in its Bylaws, which are posted on the relevant council website.
The next big step for the newly certified MVCC will be the election to its Board, following extensive outreach.
