We are posting the latest available crime statistics for our area under the heading “Crime in Our Area” in the lower left quarter of our homepage which is headed “Police & Safety”. Please note that the listed crimes occurred not only in the Ven-Mar NA area, but also the rest of the area covered by our Basic Car, namely the WHOLE of Mar Vista north of Venice Blvd. This is known to be one of the safest areas in Los Angeles. The information comes courtesy of L.A. Community Policing, a volunteer organization with an excellent website, www.LACP.org. Maps showing the actual locations of the crimes are usually made available at Block Captains’ meetings.
On the same area of our homepage there is an item called Awarenet, which is intended to give updated information on the incidence of crime in our area. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of volunteer help, Awarenet is unavailable. If you can spare three to four hours a week to visit and work with the Community Office at the Pacific Division Police Station, please contact volunteer Doug Ehlers at dougehlers@attbi.com .
Meanwhile, until Awarenet becomes functional, we shall seek the information from L.A. Community Policing.
