What is a Neighborhood Council?

In a nutshell . . . .

In accordance with the new City Charter, the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE) is supporting community efforts to form neighborhood councils. Neighborhood Councils are self-governed, self-directed and independent entities that provide input to City officials on neighborhood and Citywide issues.

Venice residents of the area served by our neighborhood association are stakeholders in the Grass Roots Venice Neighborhood Council (certified on February 12, 2002) and Mar Vista residents served by our neighborhood association are stakeholders in the Mar Vista Community Council (certified on August 13, 2002).
