All over town there is road construction going on. Villa Park is no exception. But some of the improvements are making improvements to important roadways and parkways in Villa Park.
A new bridge has replaced an older bridge by 10th avenue and Osceola St. This bridge was replaced by Urban Drainage. The bridge replacement improves the drainage of Lakewood-Dry Gulch with a wider spanned bridge. This bridge along with several others have been flooding during heavy rains.
The new bridge will handle the 100 year flood plain. Along with the bridge replacement improvements, a retaining wall was installed on the eastern side, additional shrubbery was added and a bike/walking path goes underneath the bridge into the green space on the other side of Lakewood-Dry Gulch Park. There will be new construction at the bridge at 9th and Perry St. This bridge will also be replaced with a wider one. Once construction begins, Perry St. will be detoured. Stay tuned for more information as we receive it.
