Councilwoman Irene White walked out of the April 5th meeting after the Council had completed voting on the legislation for the evening.
Ms. White has only attended two of the four regular council meetings this year and has exited early from the two that she has attended. Ms. White was removed from the January regular council meeting by Mayor Watkins for disrupting the meeting. Ms. White then preceeded to miss the February and March meetings and then got up and left the April meeting.
Ms. White who is in the process of trying to sell her home stated at the April Council Meeting, "I am gone tomorrow if I sell my house." This came during an exchange with Mayor Watkins who asked for Ms. White's resignation because she had not been attending council meetings and failed to attend Finance Committee meetings which she was named a member too. Mayor Watkins expressed his belief that Ms. White was not representing the residents of the Village by not attending council meetings and comittee meetings.
Ms. White stated that she would be serving on Council until she sold her house, though she planned to leave the Village as soon as it was sold. She did state that if she did not sell the house that she had two more years remaining on her term and that she would serve the term out if her house never sold.
Ms. White seemingly exited the meeting in protest of the appointment of Sergeant John Chapman as acting Village Marshal. Ms. White got up to leave the meeting and began disrupting the meeting when Mayor Watkins asked that an Officer escort Ms. White from the Building.
After Ms. White's exit the meeting continued with the residents being able to address the Council and then the meeting ended.
