Annual Village Easter Egg Hunt Held

Apr 04, 2004

The Village of Valleyview held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 3rd in the Village Park. Over one hundred residents came out to participate in the event. The weather cooperated with bright sunshine and a light wind. The sun and wind helped dry the park up from the overnight rains.

Members of the Village Government, the Valleyview?’s Future First Community Foundation, and residents met on Friday evening to prepare the over 1,000 eggs that were hidden for the hunt. The eggs were filled with candy and tokens which could be used to claim prizes for the different age groups.

Different parts of the Park were prepared for five different age groups. The children with their baskets met in the parking lot of the Village Hall before the festivities began. While waiting for the hunt to begin there was a visit from the Easter Bunny and children were able to get their picture taken with him. The event ended at the Shelter House at the Village Park where a raffle was held for two Longerberger Baskets, a gift Basket from Honey Baked Ham, and tickets for the Columbus Clippers. The Valleyview Church in Christian Union also held a bake sale in conjunction with the Easter Egg Hunt at the Shelter House.

Councilman John Shaw directed the planning for the event for the Village Parks and Recreation Department. The event was very successful and every child?’s basket was filled with eggs found during the hunt. Thanks goes out to all everyone that helped prepare the eggs for the hunt and everyone that donated items for the prizes and raffle.
