Village To Buy New Police Cruiser

At the May 3rd Village Council Meeting the Village Council with the passage of Resolution 2004-19 approved the purchase of a new Police Cruiser. The Resolution passed 5-1 with Councilwoman Irene White casting the descenting vote.

The Village had placed ads in the paper to announce that they were accepting bids for a new Police Cruiser. Only one dealer responded and provided a bid to the Village. Texoma Ford out of Texas was awarded the contract for the purchase of a new vehicle. It is hoped that the new cruiser will arrive in time for the Police Memorial Day on May 15th so that the officers would have something to truely remember the day by.

The Council had work on the Village Appropriations to cover the replacement of the Police Cruiser that was totaled in the flood of August 2003. The majority of Council was pleased that they were able to purchase the new cruiser and that the new cruiser was a considerable ungrade from previous models and included many of the features that officers had been asking for in the past such as a PA system and a plastic molded rear seat.

This cruiser will be departure from past color schemes and will have a black and white paint scheme. Because the Valleyview Police Cruiser has been mistaken as a County Sheriff in the past it was decided to go with a unique paint scheme. No other departments in Central Ohio have the black and white paint scheme. Once the cruiser is delivered a picture will be added to this article. Look for the new cruiser to be on the streets in the very near future.
