The Village Council Meeting ran smoothly this Month as the Council completed their business and all of the members of Council remained for the entire meeting.
The Council considered legislation on the purchase of a new Police Cruiser (passed 5-1 White dissenting), a Village investment policy (passed 6-0), the transfer of money from the Fire Savings Fund to the Village Checking Account (passed 6-0), a resolution recognizing the volunteer work of Angela Jones (passed 5-1 White dissenting), and a contract for the employment of a Village Solicitor (passed 6-0).
The Village Fund status was presented as well. The Village's financial status has improved greatly and the Village's General fund had a balance of $23,706.93 as of April 29, 2004. It should be noted that that balance is AFTER a check for $19,761.02 was written to the IRS to pay the remaining balance on the back taxes for the penalties and interest. With that the Village has brought its account up to date. The Village has done a wonderful job of watching its spending and with the help of those officers that have work as auxilliary officers and not being paid it has helped the Village use its resources to purchase a new police cruiser and pay off the IRS debt.

The Village Council did meet in Executive Session for approximately 25 minutes while it discussed the employment contract for the Village Solicitor. The Meeting was concluded at 9:30pm after those residents wishing to speak were afforded the opportunity.
