The meeting minutes for Village Council Meetings held in May were recently completed by a transcriber. It was Ms. Shelley Cosgrove's responsibility to complete the meeting minutes in her role as Fiscal Officer.
The transcriber charged the village $216 dollars to complete the minutes. The Village therefore has been charged twice for the minutes because Ms. Cosgrove is paid $10,020 a year to maintain the village records, manage the village bank accounts and complete the minutes for meetings held by the village council.
Why should the village pay twice for the same services? No contract was approved to hire a transcriber to do the minutes. It is believed that the transcriber was a relative of a village official that was hired to do a job? The rules of council require that 3 bids be collected for any contract work done by the council. Where are the other bids for the transcription services? The mayor and certain council members are spending the residents money without proper approval.
The Mayor believes that she has the right to spend the resident's money without the approval of council. Residents need to stand up and informed the mayor that she needs to understand who is her boss and that wasteful spending will not continue.
