Virginia Vale Community Association

2006 Letter From The President

Jan 30, 2006

Happy New Year to all of our VVCA members! If you have received this newsletter it is because you have joined our organization. Thank you! At our last board meeting we agreed to mail our newsletters quarterly to members, and to all houses in October during our annual membership drive. This newsletter is just one of the benefits of joining the VVCA and we hope you find it useful and informational.
We have much to be thankful for as the new year begins. The last time I corresponded with you I expressed a desire to accomplish three goals in my first year as President. As a refresher these were to explain the role of the VVCA in our neighborhood and community, to recruit more board members, and to increase attendance at our meetings. I am very pleased to report these goals have been accomplished.
If you have attended any meeting in the past year you should now fully understand the VVCA is your conduit to improving the quality of life in Virginia Vale. Every single resident needs to be responsible and take ownership of our neighborhood. Through newsletters and meetings we have provided you with access to the myriad of city resources at your disposal to resolve neighborhood problems, issues and concerns. Please pick up the phone and use these resources and put your tax dollars to work. If you see trash on the street pick it up. Please lead by example and always drive the speed limit (25 mph) in our neighborhood. If you witness suspicious activity call the police. If you don?’t like the conditions of our streets, etc. call our City Councilperson, Charlie Brown, or our Mayor, John Hickenlooper, and keep calling until your problem gets resolved. They need to be held accountable as well. The squeaky wheel gets the oil when it comes to receiving city services.
We have added four new faces to the VVCA board this fall, which gives us a total of seven board members. This should allow us to get a lot more accomplished in terms of tackling neighborhood issues. Every board member has volunteered to tackle a neighborhood issue, concern or problem. You can read about what some of the board members are doing in this newsletter and stay tuned, as there is much more to come.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who has been attending our meetings as attendance has dramatically increased over the past year. Additionally, I want to express my sincere thanks to those who stepped up financially and helped us avert a fiscal crisis with our budget. I am very proud of the way our neighborhood pulled together. We have generated some terrific momentum and I am looking forward to working with the new board members and the entire community over the next year to help make Virginia Vale a great place to live. Please contact any of the board members listed below if you have any questions or concerns, and especially if you would like to lead a neighborhood project.

Warmest regards,
Tim Dugan
VVCA President
