REQUEST FOR ASSISTANTS
Do you want to contribute to our neighborhood but you don?’t have the time to serve as an Officer or Street Rep.? Have you considered being on a committee? The following are some on going projects currently needing more participants:

 GRAFFITI ABATEMENT
Locate and record where in the neighborhood graffiti is. If it is on private property, contact owner and find out what if any assistance they might need in removing it and or give them information to contact the official Graffiti Abatement people working in conjunction with The City of Tucson. If it is on Public/City property contact Graffiti Abatement and they will take care of it. Gather the necessary implements/supplies and people to get the job done.

 ILLEGAL SIGN/POSTER/FLYER REMOVAL
Remember the back of the September newsletter ?“DON?’T POST THIS FLYER! JOIN THE GRAFFITI ABATEMENT PROGRAM IN ELIMINATING HANDBILL LITTER?”. It mentioned that it is illegal to post handbills on utility poles street sign poles and other public places. We have been working on this periodically but we need some folks to work on this project on an ongoing basis. Taking down signs writing on the back of the sign the date, time, location of the sign and getting the signs to Graffiti Abatement and they contact the person who put it up and give warnings and or fines from $50.00 to $2500.00

 McCormick Park Oversight
I have been keeping an eye on the park on an irregular basis and noticed things that needed attention and reported it to the various departments of The City such as; overspray of sprinklers on the parking lot and Columbus, filled and overflowing recycle containers, non-recyclable items outside of containers, dead trees needing removal, parking lot basket ball court and YMCA building lights out, large pot holes in the parking lot, graffiti in the rest rooms?…
All of the above can be broken down into any number of people participating in committees or for example a coordinator for each project with help from people in our neighborhood who regularly walk, jog, bicycle or drive (did I leave anybody out?) in the neighborhood assisting them.

 NEIGHBORHOOD MEETINGS PRODUCTION TEAM
There has been a somewhat organized effort of people who show up to the meetings first to set up tables and chairs etc. Now that we are meeting at the La Mirada Apartments graciously provided by Judy Livengood (manager) we are, I feel, obligated to set up and take down the chairs and what ever we need to do for our meetings. As part of that team I would like to have someone coordinate having people bring refreshments. We also have been allowed to use the attached ?“kitchen area?” complete with coffee makers, sink, refrigerator etc. Their preference is that the set up be done before the office closes, which is a few hours before we have been meeting.

 WELCOMING COMMITTEE
Welcome new people to the neighborhood.

 FUND RAISING
 GRANT RESEARCHING
 LANDSCAPING/BEAUTIFICATION
In the future we are going to have to take care of the maintenance of the plantings in the traffic circles, for example.
Come to the meeting to share your ideas on the topic of committees and or call the other officers, your street rep or me. Thanks, Richard
