1. Welcome and Introduction of New People- Christina welcomed Kristin Misik of the West Side Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Clinic (311 West 43rd St., Suite 1101, 212-315-1412, kristinmisik@hotmail.com). Kristin reported that the clinic provides the following services: massage therapy, acupuncture, reiki therapy, facials and detoxification programs.

3.1. Darrick distributed the February and March minutes; Darrick noted the correction of Shep?’s name.
3.2. Darrick reviewed the current members and friends listing, noting those in appears. Darrick will send a postcard to these individuals advising them that their dues are not paid, suggesting that they drop if off at Hartley House.
3.3. Darrick reported the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival will be held on Saturday & Sunday, May 15 & 16, 2004, 11 am - 7 pm, 37th to 57th Streets. Led by Darrick as chair, the Block Association will again solicit baked goods from restaurants within the jurisdiction of the Block Association.
3.4. Darrick reported that letters drafted by Christina will be sent by Block Association to HA! Comedy Club and Firebird restaurant to address member complaints.

5. President?’s Report
5.1. Christina read aloud a letter she received from the Housing Conservation Coordinators (HCC) requesting a cash donation in honor of their 30th anniversary. A celebration will take place at the Times Square Hotel on Thursday, May 20th . Darrick Sampson moved to donate $25 and Watty Strouss seconded the motion. The motion was voted on and passed.
6. Committee Reports
6.1. Membership: Darrick and Thomas will brainstorm to identify ideas that could increase meeting participation.
7. Unfinished Business
7.1. Truck Form- Thomas will attempt to send the New York City Department of Transportation surveys to Ms. Toby Kizner of Edwards & Kelcey [212-944-2000 x6156]
7.2. Mary Clark reported that we received a positive response from the Parks Department regarding the renaming of May Matthews Playground to also honor Alexandra Palmer . The Parks Department suggested to rename the playground as ?“Matthews-Palmer Playground?”.
The Block Association voted to spend up to $100 on plants for the garden and passed the following resolution:
7.2.1. Create a garden in honor of Alexandra Palmer in the existing open area of May Mathews Playground between the basketball courts and the retaining wall, planting perennials.
7.2.2. Ask the NYC Parks Department to clean, restore and relocate the sand casting tiles on the front of the comfort station to areas where they will not be exposed to spray from the children?’s sprinkler, such as the back of the comfort station, the area around the new garden and the handball courts, and to install fence around area.
7.2.3. Work with the Parks Department to prepare the garden area, plant, create a sign, and if asked to help clean the sand casting tiles.
7.2.4. Work with the West 45th Street Block Association to accomplish these goals, which may include planting in the 45th Street garden as well.
Mary Clark identified these next steps:
7.2.5. To work with Steve Simon, Chief of Staff to Manhattan Borough Commission William Castro to accomplish the first three items in the resolution;
7.2.6. To implement the name change.
7.3. Christina provided us with an update on the West Side Coalition?’s progress.
8. New Business
8.1. Complaints about dogs in the May Matthews Playground were made to 311 by Margaret Williams and Christina Boers.
8.2. The Clinton Chronicle continues to publish our meeting time as 8pm. Watty will advise them of our new time.
8.3. Shep reported that busses are idling by the Village at 46th & Tenth. We will write a letter to address this nuisance.
